Presenting God's Word so people understand what it says and how to apply it to their life.
Regardless of your reason for wanting to learn more about God and what's in the Bible, you want to and that makes you teachable. But get ready for more than learning about the history of a nation wandering in the desert or reviewing the children's stories you heard growing up. Because when you really open up God's Word, God will open you up as well. We might teach you the Bible, but God may transform your life.
Perhaps you are one of the people who want to know more about God and the Bible without attending a church where Christians gather to worship. You're not ready to worship God, you hardly know what you believe about him, let alone sing songs to him. But you have questions. You are interested and cautiously open to seeing if there's something real there.
Maybe you are a new believer who needs to grow in your faith and you're ready to learn more than your church can offer from Sunday to Sunday. You've made your decision but now it's time to put more truth on the plate and feed on it to become stronger, more confident, and at peace with your new life as a Christian. It's one thing to believe, it's another to live what you believe. You're ready to learn.
It could be that you're a pretty strong, church-going believer whose faith is fairly developed and you already know a lot about the Bible and Christianity. You're already committed to your church and other ministries but you love digging into the Word every chance you get. A Bible class outside of your usual circles might be something you'd like to invest in.
GRACE FOR LIFE BIBLE CLASSES:
Many people possess a general knowledge of God and the Bible. But most would admit that they lack a deeper understanding of God as he has revealed himself in the Scriptures, and feel even less sure about the Bible as a whole. To assist with the need to know more and go deeper, Dr. Green will be teaching three critical series: Knowing God, Knowing the Bible, and Knowing How To Live. Each series is comprised of four-week courses with each of its classes covering the key texts, major themes, classic doctrines, and applicational life-lessons.
"Teaching God's Word to people is my greatest passion. I have a deep respect for God’s Word as His perfect revelation and view the Bible as God-authored, final, inerrant, and worthy to be obeyed in all matters pertaining to faith and life. This view explains why I believe the Bible must be interpreted carefully so the intended meaning of the text can be understood according to its historical, cultural, and grammatical context while being presented literally unless the genre prescribes a figurative interpretation instead. Once the text is interpreted and meaning has been assigned, transferrable principles can be derived and applied to our lives today. When the Word is properly handled and skillfully communicated, the very Spirit of God imparts its truth to the hearts of those who have ears to hear. Handling God’s Word is an incredible responsibility. Communicating it so God can use it to transform people is an honour and a privilege.
I present God’s Word as it is written for people as they are. I rely on an expositional, verse-by-verse, style of communication to bring out what God put in. Expositional teaching should be creative, colourful, filled with life, and often, laughter. I am careful to not dumb-down the truth of God’s Word that holds us accountable. I may teach through a book of the Bible, deliver a series of classes on a theological topic, or look at what the Bible has to say about current issue in our lives. Regardless, what you will find is that I love to teach God’s Word so people can understand it, learn it, and respond to it. I am a very visual person. I’ve believe that people comprehend and retain what they are hearing if they can see it as well. Using visual supports is very, very effective."
